Steve Brush is set to take over as the new chief of the Canyon Police Department.

According to the City of Canyon, Brush was selected to take on the role as CPD chief after a career spanning more than 30 years in law enforcement. Brush currently serves as Tulia’s police chief and holds a degree from Wayland Baptist University. Brush is also a Master Certified Police Office in Texas and a crisis negotiator.

“I am honored to be chosen as your next Police Chief,” Brush said in a statement. “I am grateful to the Mayor, City Council and City Manager for this opportunity. I’m excited to work with the members of the Police Department and City staff to serve the citizens of Canyon.”

Brush is expected to join the Canyon Police Department on April 20.
