Republican U.S. House District 13 candidate Josh Winegarner is taking aim at Dr. Ronny Jackson ahead of the hotly contested runoff for the seat.

In a statement released on Monday, Winegarner pieced together tweets from former Obama Administration officials praising Jackson to point to Jackson’s time in Washington. Jackson previously served as White House Physician under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump while serving in the U.S. Navy.

“The facts are clear - I have never made a personal contribution to a Democrat and my conservative credentials are well documented and beyond question - from working for two conservative Texas Senators, to my own Republican primary voting history,” Winegarner said in the statement. “We can’t say the same for him.”

Included in the release are tweets from David Axelrod and Susan Rice praising Jackson’s tenure in the White House, along with a quote from Fox News attributed to President Obama, saying that Jackson had a “positive impact” during his time as White House Physician.

Winegarner, a former lobbyist, has recently come under fire for his work with the Texas Cattle Feeders Association and the group’s contributions to Democratic candidates during his time as a lobbyist. Winegarner has denied involvement in the contributions.

Voters will decide this race on July 14.
