Why did you decide to run for this office in 2024?

I ran for office in 2024 because of my deep love for our state and country and because I am very concerned about our current trajectory. Texans are tired of the status quo in Austin, who make promises but fail to deliver session after session. I will work tirelessly on important issues like education, securing the border, returning control to the local level and term limits.

If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

Conservative Republicans must work together now more than ever to put Texas on the right track. After being elected, my priorities will be dictated via different avenues. First, from the feedback from business leaders, elected officials & citizens from within the district. Secondly, from the platform put forth by the Republican Party of Texas in which my current campaign issues align.

What is your position on taxpayer-funded lobbying? Please explain.

Thomas Jefferson said, "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." I agree with Mr. Jefferson thus am against taxpayer-funded lobbying.

How should the legislature go about delivering further property tax relief? Please explain.

The ultimate burden of government is not how much it taxes, but how much it spends. This is true at the national, state, and local levels. State government must spend less and use budget surpluses to eliminate school district M&O (maintenance and operations) property taxes. Local governments must spend less in order to reduce their property taxes. A long-term commitment to fiscal responsibility is required.

What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

Term limits is an important issue for not only Texas, but our nation. When I am elected, I will file legislation to put terms limits in place.

Do you have any notable endorsements you would like to highlight for voters?

Our campaign has numerous notable endorsements that may be referenced here: https://www.jamiefortexans.com/endorsements/

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

I am the best candidate for this position because it is time for district 86 to have a tenacious fighter focusing on faith, family and our conservative Texas values. I will increase district communication, increase representative visibility and thus accessibility within the district, and ensure citizen inquiries are met with the highest level of urgency and unprecedented office response times. Our state needs strong, principled leadership that puts the interests of Texans first and respects their values. As a conservative standing for House District 86, I will do the work in Austin in a full-time capacity and will be stepping away from any other responsibilities.
