Why did you decide to run for this office in 2025?

I am called to serve our community and believe investing in public education is one of the best ways I can do this. In serving the last 5 years on the AISD school board, I have seen first hand how education can change the lives of people. I have experience, knowledge, and passion to continue serving in this way.

If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

I would continue to commit to the five priorities discerned by the board to accomplish the mission of graduating every student prepared for life and success beyond high school. We will continue to do what it takes to make our schools safe and secure, prepare students for college, career and military readiness, focus on early literacy having every student on reading level by third grade, closing the achievement gap giving every student a chance at success, and fostering leadership and citizenship by promoting responsibility, accountability, and discipline.

What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

We are going to have to address our aging infrastructure. AISD is full of rich history but our facilities are aging. We have to find creative solutions and create public private partnerships to continue provide innovative, modern, learning environments.

What is your position on the issue of taxpayer-funded lobbying? Please explain.

The lack of local control is the issue here. When a local board isn’t the decision maker for their district, they must advocate for the values and concerns of their community on the State level in Austin. This gives small, rural, and remote communities very little leverage on the state level to implement their values and concerns. A move to local control would eliminate the need for any sort of lobbying on the state level.

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

I feel that I am a proven leader. I have learned a lot while serving for the last 5 years which prepares me well for the next 4. I have experience in education and relationships with teachers and staff throughout the district. I listen to all sides and seek wisdom to make any decisions for our district. I care deeply for all students and want the best for them. I have shown that I am a peaceful leader constantly looking to build bridges and only building walls when absolutely necessary.
