Editorial: A Historic Month

December 2016 marks the 83rd anniversary of the repeal of prohibition in the United States. However, this did not legalize alcohol in the Texas Panhandle. Potter County began allowing distilled spirits sometime between 1939 and 1940. Randall County's first legalization of alcoholic beverages came on July 7, 1973.

Amarillo has come a long way, since 1939. It is very interesting to look back at the times many years ago, to compare them with the times now.
