Potter County has a new occupant for Potter County Memorial Stadium.
The Potter County Commissioners’ Court approved a sub-lease agreement with San Jacinto Christian Academy, during their Monday meeting. While Potter County had considered leasing the stadium to the Pecos League, for semi-professional baseball, the County has instead gone with the 6th Street school.
Potter County officials also said that San Jacinto Christian Academy officials will have to make upwards of $25,000 worth of improvements to the stadium, before play can begin. San Jacinto officials Tim Bowles and Mike Fuller promoted the agreement, last week, before the Commissioner’s Court’s decision. Bowles, a San Jacinto board member, and Fuller, San Jacinto’s head baseball coach, spoke before the Commissioner’s Court on November 28th.
According to documents from the Court’s meeting, Judge Tanner and Commissioner Mercy Murguia have been the Commission officials in charge of making the deal.
San Jacinto’s lease will begin next January.
