Applebee's Closings Hit Texas Panhandle

Applebee's closings have hit the Texas Panhandle, after the restaurant's parent company announced the closing of nearly 135 restaurants earlier this year.

It was reported that an Applebee's location in Lubbock closed over the weekend. Lubbock's Applebee's at 6501 Fourth Street closed as part of the closings by Dine Equity.

Dine Equity, the parent company of Applebee's and IHOP, announced the closings earlier this year as part of the restaurant's "transitional year." Due to the closings, company chairman Richard Dahl says that Dine Equity expects to see "improvement over the next year."

It is unclear whether either Amarillo location will be affected during the closings, as Dine Equity has not yet released a list of locations that will be shuttered.
