"West Texas A&M University’s collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) will sponsor a special seminar titled, “Datasets, Analytics and Marketing” from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Classroom Center, Room 335 on campus.
Speakers for the seminar are Dr. Jeffry Babb, associate professor and Gensler Professor of Computer Information Systems; Dr. Blake Decker, assistant vice president for learning assessment; Mary Jarvis, assistant director of Cornette Library; Dr. Ty Lawrence, professor of animal science, Dr. Ryan Mattson, assistant professor of economics; and Dr. David Rausch, Teel Bivins Professor of Political Science.
With today’s fast changing markets, high tech-industries and global consumer and industrial markets, the six speakers will address a multitude of important issues and timely topics regarding datasets, big data, analytics, cyber security, data privacy, data and digital consumption and more.
“All of these topics and specialized areas are timely and relate to almost every industry such as higher education, consumer-industrial marketing, business analytics, buyer decision processes, agriculture, economics, politics, sports science, etc.,” Dr. Syed Tariq Anwar, professor of marketing and international business, said. “Interestingly the pace of change is dynamic, and we will continue to witness the emergence of additional digital business models and goods in high tech areas. Today’s areas of datasets and analytics have created billions of dollars of new markets based on connected consumers and connected industries worldwide.”
This is another informative session sponsored by WTAMU’s AMA and co-sponsored by the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA). The AMA chapter was started in 2014 and has organized many special lectures and seminars. The special seminar is free and open to WTAMU students, faculty and staff members as well as the community.
