Bruce Jacobson Jr. to Challenge Ted Cruz

Christian media executive Bruce Jacobson, Jr. has announced his intention to challenge Senator Ted Cruz in 2018.

Bruce Jacobson, a Christian television producer, announced his bid on Thursday, saying that he is planning to run for the Republican Party's nomination for the spot. Jacobson, a resident of North Richland Hills, said that he decided to run because of gridlock in Congress.

"Blinded by their own political ambition, nothing ever gets done, and we have political gridlock," Jacobson said. "Now, with a Republican in the White House and a Republican majority in Congress, it makes no sense that we can’t move forward a contrastive agenda. Most of this gridlock comes from the obstructionists in the Senate."

Jacobson serves as producer for the popular Christian television program "Life Today," hosted by James Robison. Robison has served as a spiritual advisor to President Donald Trump.

Other Republicans running for the Senate spot in 2018 include: Senator Ted Cruz, attorney Stefano de Stefano, former La Marque mayor Geraldine Sam and former Corpus Christi mayor Dan McQueen.

Democrat Beto O'Rourke is also running.

Candidates have until December 11th to file for a place on the ballot.
