Democrat Joe Mumbach is running for governor of Texas in 2018.
Mumbach filed his paperwork with the Texas Democratic Party to earn a spot on the Democratic ballot for governor. Mumbach joins a crowded field that is continuing the grow in the race for governor.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mumbach is the owner of Southern Star Satellite & Sound. Mumbach is also the director of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
Mumbach's filing grows the field to eight announced Democratic candidates for governor. Those already announced include: hospice owner Tom Wakely, former Balch Springs mayor Cedric Davis, Garry Brown, financial advisor Adrian Ocegueda, businessman Jeffrey Payne, retired teacher Grady Yarbrough and Lee Weaver. Dallas county sheriff Lupe Valdez and Houston businessman Andrew White are both considering a Democratic bid for governor, as well.
Republican Governor Greg Abbott and secessionist SECEDE Kilgore are running for the Republican nomination.
Candidates have until December 11th to file for a spot on the ballot.
