Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted to approve a bill on Wednesday granting federal reciprocity for concealed carry permits.
According to information from the U.S. House of Representatives journal, Thornberry voted to approve the bill that would grant federal reciprocity for concealed carry permit holders. Under the bill authored by Congressman Richard Hudson (R-North Carolina), those who hold concealed carry permits in one state would be allowed to carry in another state.
The bill also opens up areas managed by the National Park System, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Wildlife Refuge System, and the National Forest Service to concealed carry holders.
The bill passed the House of Representatives in a 231-198 vote. 14 Republicans voted against the bill, while 6 Democrats voted for the bill.
H.R. 38 will now head to the U.S. Senate.
