The Texas Rangers' Nomar Mazara has been named the American League Player of the Week.
Mazara is the first American League Player of the Week for 2017. The first week of MLB action saw Mazara land himself the title of league RBI leader, with nine. Mazara also had a .417 batting average for the week.
According to records, the only other Rangers player with 10 hits and nine RBIs in the team's first six games of a season was Juan Gonzalez in 1998.
