The City of Amarillo's HOPE program will be launching next month.
The HOPE program is aimed to "create an innovative, proactive approach to connect Amarillo’s homeless population to the community’s support services." The City Council approved the program's creation last year as a way to improve outreach to the city's homeless population.
The City is partnering with Amarillo Housing First, which will conduct a temporary work program. AHF president Chris Seright said in a press release that AHF is suited to succeed in the program because of its focus on case management.
The program is a pilot program. The program's clean-up activities will be offered to homeless persons at least twice a week for approximately six hours per day.
