West Texas A&M University has announced the recipients of its top student accolades.
Myles Smith and Shaina Dulakis were awarded the school's Man and Woman of the Year awards for the 2016-2017 year on April 28th. The two students were honored by inclusion in the Presidential Order of the Silver Buffalo.
Smith is a graduate student in communication from Amarillo. According WTAMU, Smith has participated in a variety of organizations, including the Wesley Foundation, Maroon Platoon, Lambda Pi Eta, High Plains Storyteller Guild, National Orientation Directors Association, Student Government and Traditions Council.
Dulakis is a senior mass communication major from Plainview. Dulakis is a member of the President’s Ambassadors, serves as secretary for Chi Omega and is a student activities consultant in the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership. Dulakis is also a radio news director for KWTS.
Finalists for man of the year also included Nick Ahring, computer science major, and Zach McMeans, a senior agricultural media and communication major.
Finalists for woman of the year included Madison Little, a senior marketing major, and Natalia Molina, a senior graphic design major.
