In 1979, Nelson and Campbell performed a free concert in Amarillo for local bankers organizations. The show was in the Civic Center and featured the two country legends along with several opening acts.

A highlight of the evening was Glen Campbell's playing of the bagpipes. Campbell played "Amazing Grace" on his bagpipes and the audience roared.

Because of Campbell's bagpiping, a group of local musicians started the High Plains Pipers group.

The concert was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
