Two Amarillo Police Department officers have been promoted to the rank of corporal.
According to information from APD, Officers Josh Slaten and Bryan Hughes have been promoted to the rank of corporal.
Slaten has served with the APD since 2007. Slaten previously worked as a corrections officer for the Potter County Sheriff's Office from 2003 to 2007. Among all of his accolades and certifications, Slaten was presented with the APD Life Saving Award in 2010.
Hughes has served with the APD since 2013. Hughes earned a bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University and worked as a dispatcher for the campus police during his time at WTAMU. Hughes is a member of the APD Honor Guard.
Promotions from within the APD are based on competitive written tests and the number of positions available.
