The Lone Star Ballet will be hosting the world premiere of a brand new ballet, next February.
In February of 2018, the Lone Star Ballet will host the world premiere of King Hill's "Lone Star Legends and Love Stories." Hill, a local arts authority, announced the show today with Vicki McLean, the artistic director for the LSB.
King's new show will feature characterizations of real heroes from Texas' history. Characters who will be included in the ballet include: Cynthia Ann Parker, Molly Goodnight, Frenchy McCormick, Susanna Dickinson and Emily West. The show is a tribute to the women who were heroes of Texas and will feature a talented cast from the Lone Star Ballet.
"We all know what loving Texas is all about," Vicki McLean said, "This is a love story between people but also with the amazing state we live in."
The ballet will make its world premiere on Friday, February 9th at the Globe News Center for the Performing Arts.
Also, the Lone Star Ballet today announced the opening of its seventh academy program in the Texas Panhandle. McLean announced today that Dalhart will be the site of the new academy.
"They are a wonderful community," McLean said, "And they love the arts."
