WTAMU Fall Fundraiser Raises Money for Harvey Victims

"When Hurricane Harvey left a trail of destruction along the Texas Gulf Coast in late August, the Leadership Board in the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership at West Texas A&M University went to work to help with relief efforts by raising $3,200.

Throughout the fall semester, the board sponsored a T-shirt sale as a fund-raiser. WTAMU students, staff, faculty and community members helped through the purchase of the shirts which read, “The floods may roar and the rain may pour, but together we will stand strong.” The fund-raiser ended at the close of the fall semester, and the Leadership Board sent a check for $3,200 to the Global Giving Foundation, Inc., for distribution to the affected area.

The fund-raiser was made possible through the generous donations of several sponsors: Office of the President at WTAMU, Bill’s Backyard Classics of Amarillo, Educational Services at WTAMU, Kitten Pump & Supply of Amarillo, Camera Chicks Photography of Canyon, the WTAMU chapter of Wine to Water, Triangle Realty of Amarillo and Becky’s Burritos of Friona.

Leadership Board members include Isamar Villarreal, Keila Valdez, Fabiola Hernandez, Lauren Gaston, Will McAfee, Gloria Torres, Brandon Quiroz, Edgar Zaldivar, Elijah Roach, Tatiani Guzman, Khashari Wilson, Kiersten Newton, Morgan Robbins, Nora Norez and Ravina Goswami. Advisers are Miguel Soto and Missy Macon."
