Amarillo Growing Slower Than Most Cities, Survey Says

Amarillo’s growth is slower than average among cities surveyed in a brand new report released this week.

On Monday, WalletHub released the “2018 Fastest-Growing Cities in America” survey, which measured growth among 515 cities nationwide. In the survey, researchers found that Amarillo ranks in the bottom half of cities in the U.S. for growth. Amarillo secured the position of 394 out of the 515 cities surveyed, due to low rankings in “Sociodemographics” and “Jobs & Economy” fields.

Meanwhile, Amarillo’s major neighbor to the south, Lubbock, performed better in the survey. Lubbock secured the position of 262 out of the 515 cities surveyed.

Overall, the survey found Fort Myers, Florida to be the fastest growing city in the United States. Among cities surveyed, Decatur, Illinois received the worst rankings, landing in the bottom spot.
