City Council Hopefuls to Host Meet and Greet

Local voters are being invited to meet two City Council hopefuls next month.

On Wednesday, November 14th, Hayden Pedigo and Steven Rosas will host a meet and greet at the Six Car Pub and Brewery in downtown Amarillo. Both men have stated their intention to run for seats on the City Council, with Pedigo saying he will challenge incumbent Councilwoman Freda Powell for Place 2. Rosas has not yet committed to a seat.

Rosas is a local entrepreneur who was previously a candidate for appointment to the City Council in 2016, seeking to replace Dr. Brian J. Eades on the Council. Rosas was not selected as a finalist in a large field of candidates. Lisa Blake, director of Leadership Amarillo and Canyon, was eventually selected for the seat in a 4-1 vote. Rosas was the first candidate to officially declare his intention for 2019.

Pedigo is a local musician who has gained notoriety for a series of videos showing the aspiring politician mowing lawns, campaigning, throwing folding chairs and more. The videos have become viral sensations, with at least one of Pedigo’s commercials being shown on national television.

The meet and greet will be held at 7PM on November 14th.

Candidates can begin filing for seats on the City Council in January. The election will be held in May. All four seats on the City Council, and the mayor’s position, will be up for grabs.
