A road construction project in the area of Interstate 40 and Bell Street is nearing completion, officials say.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the bridge reconstruction project at I-40 and Bell is nearing completion, with traffic being allowed back into the main lanes of the bridge, travelling in both directions. Officials say the project included reconstruction of the bridge and pavement, in addition to various changes and improvements.
The $7.4 million contract also included rehabilitation of traffic signals along Amarillo Boulevard and at several intersections between Taylor and Buchanan Streets. ADA-compliant ramps were also added at some sidewalks.
While the project is reportedly nearing completion, TxDOT says construction zones continue to remain in place throughout the city. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead when driving in those areas.
