Senator Ted Cruz told a group of students this week that he could foresee investigations and possible even impeachment charges against President Donald Trump raised by Democratic legislators ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
According to NTK Network, Cruz told students at Washington, D.C.’s The George Washington University that President Trump may face impeachment charges raised by House Democrats during the next two years. Cruz issued the warning as Democrats won control of the U.S. House of Representatives during the midterm elections earlier this month.
“In the House, I think the Democrats have unleashed some of the angriest voices on the left. I think we’re going to see two years of investigations, and subpoenas, and we may well see impeachment,” Cruz said. “I think that anger and rage is going to have to burn out some more before we can come together and enact major legislative reforms that we should be doing.”
During his speech, Cruz also condemned “anger and rage” within the American electorate today, saying it “isn’t healthy.” Cruz also went on to say he does not know how the “anger” will “play out,” but did say he felt it was present during the midterm elections and will be present during the 2020 elections.
