Man Shot in Hostage Incident at Faith City Mission

A man was shot on Wednesday morning in a hostage incident that took place at the Faith City Mission in downtown Amarillo.

On Wednesday morning, officers were dispatched to the Faith City Mission at 401 Southeast 2nd Avenue on the report of a hostage situation. Officials say that a man had entered the building with a gun and held about a hundred people hostage in the Faith City Mission's chapel.

Investigators say officers entered the building and encountered a man with a gun. One or more officers opened fire and the man was taken to a local hospital. It has been reported by APD that the man who was shot was not the hostage taker and had, in fact, taken the gun away from the man who took the hostages.

Officials say the man who took the hostages is in custody.

The condition of the man who was shot has not been released. No other person was shot during the incident.
