WTAMU Engler College Receives Accreditation Extension

"The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has granted the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University a five-year accreditation extension. Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools and the largest business education network connecting students, educators and businesses worldwide. For more than a century, AACSB accreditation has been synonymous with the highest standards in business education, earned by less than five percent of the world’s business schools.

“AACSB offers congratulations on the achievement of earning accreditation extension,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal focus, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer-reviewed evaluation. During this multi-year path, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement. WTAMU received initial AACSB accreditation in 2012.

“We are honored and extremely pleased to maintain this prestigious and rigorous accreditation,” Dr. Neil Terry, dean of the Engler College of Business, said. “The achievement explicitly acknowledges our faculty for their innovative pedagogy, dedication to advancing their disciplines through impactful research and commitment to engaging the business and professional communities through service. Employers and students implicitly look to AACSB accreditation as verification of the quality of a program’s curriculum, faculty and staff.”

With more than 80 full-time faculty and staff members, the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business currently offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree options to over 2,700 business students, including an M.B.A. program with a current student population from 48 different states and 18 different countries."
