Lubbock City Councilmembers voted this week to reject a proposal to hire a consultant for a proposed downtown hotel project.
On Thursday, Councilmembers voted 3-2 to approve the proposal, but the motion died from the lack of a fourth "yes" vote. Mayor Dan Pope and another councilmember were not present for the meeting.
The proposal called from spending around $250,000 to hire a consultant to work on the proposed project. The spending would have been funded by various infrastructure budgets and funds.
It is unclear whether Lubbock municipal staff will again seek approval of a similar amendment.
