Mel Brooks' classic 1967 film "The Producers" will be returning to the big screen in Amarillo next month.
On Sunday, June 3rd, and Wednesday, June 6th, "The Producers" will appear on screen at both the UA Amarillo Star theater and the Cinemark Hollywood 16 theater. The showings are presented by Fathom Events as part of the film's 50th anniversary celebration.
The film was directed and written by Brooks and stars Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder and Estelle Winwood. According to Internet Movie Database, "The Producers" follows two Broadway producers, Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, who attempt to make money by producing a sure-fire flop musical titled "Springtime for Hitler." Following its release, the film received two Academy Award nomination. Since that time, the film has become known as a comedic masterpiece and has spawned a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name, which starred Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
Showings on both days will take place at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are available through Fandango.com.
