City Council to Consider Imposing New Fees on Transportation at Airport

The Amarillo City Council will discuss several items related to operations at Rick Husband International Airport next week.

On Tuesday, the Amarillo City Council will consider voting to impose new fees on transportation operators at Rick Husband International Airport. The fees will run $1 per trip and will be required for hotel shuttle bus operators, rental car shuttle bus operators, taxi cab operators, limousine company operators, and transportation network company operators. According to a memo from City of Amarillo staff, the proposed fee was met with "very little resistance or opposition" by stakeholders in commercial transportation entities.

Also, on Tuesday, the Amarillo City Council will consider voting for an ordinance to purchase several hundred thousand gallons of unleaded and diesel fuel for City vehicles. Officials will also vote to purchase light poles for downtown at a cost of $70,324.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 26th in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 5pm.
