"West Texas A&M University’s student-run public relations firm, 1910 PR, has been recognized by the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) as a Nationally Affiliated firm. According to PRSSA, “only those among the upper echelons are PRSSA Nationally Affiliated.”
“Becoming Nationally Affiliated is one of the highest honors a student-run PR firm can achieve,” Krissi Burgin, who served as executive director for 1910 PR, said. “Our firm has worked extremely hard to reach this goal, and I am so proud to be a leader of 1910 PR and to represent WTAMU. As a founding member, we created the firm with the intent of making an extraordinary impact. I truly believe that 1910 PR has and will continue to make an extraordinary impact in the field of public relations.”
To be Nationally Affiliated with PRSSA, firms must prove that they are effectively structured, outcome-driven and highly professional by meeting specific, official standards. After just one year of establishment, 1910 PR has achieved a major milestone to be added to this list that only includes 25 firms currently.
In the acceptance letter, PRSSA Vice President of Professional Development Ashleigh Kathryn told the group, “I was very impressed by how structured and organized your firm is. I'm excited I had the opportunity to Affiliate your firm and am looking forward to working closely with you as well as recognizing your accomplishments as you continue to represent PRSSA.”
Since the spring of 2017, 1910 PR has provided clients with digital media management, content creation and event planning services tailored to meet the needs of each client. The firm gives WTAMU students the opportunity to receive real-world experience by allowing them to work with clients through research, planning and execution of public relations tactics. The firm’s mission is to integrate professional communication skills, creativity and knowledge to provide solid foundations for clients in the Texas Panhandle.
