Governor Greg Abbott has received the endorsement of one of the largest law enforcement lobby groups in Texas.
This week, The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT) announced that it would be backing Abbott for re-election over former Dallas sheriff Lupe Valdez and former Lago Vista city councilman Mark Tippetts.
During the announcement of the endorsement, the Houston Chronicle reports CLEAT president Todd Harrison stated that while he does not always agree with Abbott on every issue, he feels Abbott listens to the concerns of CLEAT members.
Abbott is the Republican incumbent governor, currently seeking re-election for the first time to the office. Abbott is being challenged by Valdez, a Democrat, and Tippetts, a Libertarian. Voters will decide this race in November.
