AC Krister Program Picks Up Donation

"The Kritser Diesel Program at Amarillo College has received a significant gift from its namesake – John Kritser, president of Yellowhouse Machinery – who on Aug. 15 presented AC with a new John Deere skid-steer loader.

The Deere 318E series loader is valued at about $46,000 and will be utilized in conjunction with AC’s newest diesel course, Basic Hydraulics.

“We appreciate Mr. Kritser tremendously,” said Brian Jacob, diesel program coordinator. “This addition to our program creates opportunities for real-world study of working hydraulic systems. The students can operate it, diagnose it, and take some of it apart and put it back together.

“This is something that we really needed and will immediately use.”

AC’s diesel program adopted Kritser’s name in 2016 when his $250,000 gift empowered the College to add a hydraulics component to its diesel-studies curriculum.

“I saw this as an opportunity to help a good diesel program become great,” Kritser said in 2016. “AC has a solid foundation, a good program worth enhancing.”

The new skid-steer loader enhances the cutting-edge program even more."
