The Potter County Sheriff's Office will host active shooter training for teachers of the River Road Independent School District this week.
According to Potter County, authorities will conduct training for teachers at the school district on August 10th at River Road High School. Teachers will be informed of what things to look for and will be briefed on how an active shooter incident would look. Teachers will practice locking in place and those conducting training will fire blank rounds to simulate gunfire.
A "team" will be sent to confront the threat and participants will view this scenario and will learn information on having fire rescue assist those who are injured. Participants will then be debriefed to discuss their actions during the scenario.
