Ramsey, Old Dominion Ready for Big Show at Amarillo Civic Center

It’s not every day that one of the world’s most popular country groups stops in Amarillo. But, Amarillo fans can expect that rare treat when Old Dominion brings its Happy Endings World Tour to the Amarillo Civic Center on October 11th.

Matthew Ramsey, the lead singer of Old Dominion says his band has been rocking football stadiums and other huge arenas during this tour and is excited to bring the group’s hits to Amarillo this fall.

“You can expect the five of us with big smiles on our faces,” Ramsey said. “We’ll be loving every second of it.”

Old Dominion has become a fixture of country radio since releasing their first major hit, “Break Up With Him,” in 2015. Since that time, the band has been on a nonstop hit parade, releasing major singles like “Song for Another Time,” “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” “Written in the Sand” and “Hotel Key.” The group’s meteoric rise was recognized in 2016, when the group took home the Academy of Country Music Award for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year.

While Old Dominion’s breakthrough has been a relatively recent one, Ramsey says he won’t forget the fans who brought the band to this stage or what it took to achieve the level of success they have attained today.

“It’s amazing,” Ramsey said. “It’s very gratifying because it takes a lot of work to get here and there are up’s and down’s. When you reach this point, it’s crazy. The best part is stepping on stage and seeing fans who you know have waited for this day and have spent their hard-earned money on your music.”

Ramsey says he hopes that Old Dominion inspires young people to get involved with music, because it will bring big rewards for those who love the craft.

“If you’re thinking of getting involved with music, you should do it,” Ramsey said. “My best advice is follow your heart. Don’t chase stardom, follow what you love and it will take you places.”

For Ramsey and Old Dominion, those places have included stadiums and venues all over the world during the ongoing tour. Old Dominion was also one of the co-headlining acts with country star Kenny Chesney during his 2018 Trip Around the Sun Tour. On that tour, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett and Brandon Lay played stadiums all over the country with Chesney, including an appearance on the Dallas Cowboys’ home turf, AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

However, don’t think just because the Amarillo Civic Center is a smaller venue it will mean a different kind of show from the band. Ramsey says the show will be high-energy and fun for the whole family.

“We’re excited to be here,” Ramsey said. “Come on out and bring the whole family.”

Old Dominion will perform at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium on Thursday, October 11th as part of the Happy Endings World Tour. Guest artists will include High Valley and Michael Ray. Tickets ranging from $29.50 to $55.50 (before taxes and fees) are still available, and going fast.
