United States Senators unanimously passed a bill honoring Judge Mary Lou Robinson.
On Tuesday, the United States Senate unanimously passed a bill to rename the J. Marvin Jones Federal Building and Courthouse in Amarillo as the J. Marvin Jones Federal Building and Mary Lou Robinson United States Courthouse.
The change is meant to honor federal district judge Mary Lou Robinson, who is retiring from her bench in Amarillo. Robinson was confirmed as the judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in 1979. Robinson was nominated for the bench by President Jimmy Carter.
The Senate's unanimous consent puts the bill one step closer to passage, as the U.S. House of Representatives also recently passed the bill by a voice vote.
According to Congress.gov, the bill will now head to President Donald Trump's desk.
