Great Value Colleges, a resource for online learning and college affordability, has ranked West Texas A&M University at No. 1 in its 2019 list for the 50 Most Affordable Online RN to BSN Programs. The ranking shows that WTAMU’s online RN to BSN program is the best in the United States in terms of affordability and flexibility, ahead of such schools as the University of Arkansas, Indiana University and Penn State.
With many hospitals around the country now requiring nurses to hold a Bachelor of Science degree, many full-time nurses find online RN to BSN programs to be the most convenient way to earn the advanced degree. These rankings are designed to help these prospective students as well as others interested in a nursing career to explore options and make choices based on the online programs available.
Great Value Colleges reviewed an initial pool of nearly 80 schools and narrowed down the list through a point system. Schools ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Top Online School for Bachelor’s Degree Programs were given extra points. Other criteria for earning points included tuition, program options and a ‘wow’ factor.
“This recognition is another in a long line of accolades for WT’s online RN-BSN program, Dr. J. Dirk Nelson, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, said. “We are very proud of the curriculum’s value for our students as well as its outstanding quality—these facts speak for themselves on behalf of the Department of Nursing’s faculty, staff and students. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
WTAMU’s program was cited for its flexibility which allows students to set their own pace to complete the program in as little as one year. The program satisfies its practical and clinical experience requirements through a variety of methods, including simulations, mentored experiences and case studies. The University also offers a post-graduation tuition rebate for those who qualify.
