WTAMU Students Win Telly and Communicator Awards

Media Minds at West Texas A&M University has won 8 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the 40th annual Telly Awards, and 10 awards of Distinction in the 25th annual Communicator Awards.

Both the Telly and Communicator awards are leading voices in recognizing video productions in marketing and communications. Winners of Telly Awards represent the best across many fields, including advertising agencies, professional production workshops and television productions. The Award of Distinction of Communicator Awards is presented to projects that exceed industry standards.

“Media Minds at WT is pushing the boundaries for video and television innovation and creativity at a time when the industry is rapidly changing” Sabrina Dridje, managing director of the Telly Awards, said.

The awarded categories earned by Media Minds in 2019 were from 13 different videos…The winning videos are listed below:

“TRI to make a difference”: a three and a half minute long promotional video for the nonprofit organization, Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation/Children’s Miracle Network, features a triathlon event to promote the nonprofit cause.

“This is your time – graduation,” a video that highlights students’ academic life at the PVECOB from accepting the admissions offer to graduation. Inspired by former student La Quantaye McNeil.

About Media Minds

Media Minds is a student organization in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business specializing in video marketing for both internal and external clients. Students not only develop their technical skills in production but also cultivate their management, teamwork and critical thinking ability. Drs. Heidi Huntington and Yafei Zhang of the PVECOB serve as faculty advisors. Since 2015, Media Minds has won almost 60 Telly and Communicator Awards.

The Telly Awards, founded in 1979, are the leading voice to recognize and honor best video productions for all screens. Entries were judged by more than 200 industry leaders of the Telly Awards Judging Council across many fields, such as advertising, television, and corporate production. Communicator Awards honor creative and cutting-edge work. More than 6,000 entries were judged by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts in the 25th annual Communicator Awards in 2019.
