Civic Center Community Meetings to Begin Saturday

Meetings over the proposed bond issue for the Amarillo Civic Center Complex will officially kick off on Saturday.

According to the City of Amarillo, four meetings will be held through the end of the month to allow citizens to provide feedback on the proposed renovation of the Amarillo Civic Center. The proposal has become the topic of discussion as City officials are considering placing a $279 million bond on the May 2020 ballot to cover part of the cost of a planned $319 million renovation of the Amarillo Civic Center. The proposed package would also include a relocation of City Hall, creation of a central park, construction of an additional parking garage, and renovation of the Santa Fe Depot.

The first meeting will begin at 8:30AM in the Amarillo Civic Center Hospitality Room on Saturday, September 14th. Additional meetings will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 1P and at 5:30PM, and on Saturday, September 21st at 8:30AM. All meetings will be held in the Hospitality Room.

For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at the City of Amarillo’s Facebook page.
