Amjad Abdullat Selected as WT College of Business Dean

West Texas A&M University announces Dr. Amjad Abdullat will serve as dean of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business through the next accreditation process by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

Application submission for accreditation will occur in June, and a formal review process will follow in fall 2022 and spring 2023. Dr. Abdullat’s duties will begin when Dean Neil Terry assumes his new role as executive vice president and provost of the University on Feb. 1.

In 1998, Dr. Abdullat joined the faculty at WT as an assistant professor of computer information systems. He became associate dean of undergraduate business programs in 2013 and has since played a critical role in helping the Engler College of Business earn initial accreditation and reaffirmation from both AACSB and ABET, a dual accreditation that is one of only 34 business schools in the world to be held by both entities.

“Dr. Abdullat’s willingness to lead the Engler College of Business through this time of transition is much appreciated,” said Terry. “He has a strong commitment to the College of Business and will be a significant asset with respect to helping the University achieve the programmatic and fundraising goals associated with WT125. Dr. Abdullat will also provide a steady hand as the college navigates the AACSB accreditation reaffirmation process.”

Dr. Abdullat obtained B.S.and B.A. degrees from California State University at Sacramento and an M.B.A. from National University of San Diego as well as an Ed.D. from Pepperdine University. He is also one of the founding principles and board of directors’ member of Edmin.com, a comprehensive technology enterprise providing learning organizations with the next generation of web-based products, applications and services.
