Fairly Group CEO Alex Fairly released a new video this week, in which he details his criticisms of the Proposition A bond issue currently being decided by voters.

The new video featured a roughly 30 minute discussion between Fairly and local sports commentator Lance Lahnert regarding the project. During the video, Fairly lays out his objections to the proposal, his belief that the City of Amarillo could complete a project for renovations to the Amarillo Civic Center Complex and the construction of a downtown arena for roughly $100 million less than the current proposal. Fairly goes on to say the current project is flawed, too expensive, and not worthy of voter support in its current form.

“In its current form, I wouldn’t be voting in favor of [Proposition A],” Fairly says in the video.

Fairly is best known for his role in securing the Amarillo Sod Poodles baseball team to play at Hodgetown.

Proposition A, in its current form, would fund a number of projects downtown, including the building a central park, relocation of City Hall, renovations to the Civic Center, the construction of a new parking garage, and more.

Voting is currently underway, with early voting set to run through October 30. Election Day is November 3.
