Congratulations, Amarillo. You defeated Propositions A and B. How about we go for the grand prize now?

In May, voters in Amarillo will vote to decide who will be the city’s new mayor and city council members for the next two years. After the power grabs, excessive spending, and frequent scandals of corruption, one might assume it’s a sure thing that the balance of power will shift in Amarillo. That’s not a done deal. Amarillo Matters PAC will spend generously to keep its hand in the cookie jar and its foxes in the henhouse. Rest assured, every last dime available will be spent by the establishment in an effort to keep control of power in town.

So if the establishment is willing to do whatever it takes, then how do we stop these problems at City Hall? It starts with the citizens.

If you are concerned about the direction of your community, it’s your time to get involved and make a difference. I am calling on everyone reading this article who is concerned about the direction of this community to run for office this May. If you cannot run for office, volunteer for a candidate or donate to your favorite. If you are unable to volunteer or donate, then you can still make your voice heard by getting out and voting.

Amarillo citizens have defeated Amarillo Matters and its equivalents twice this year, giving them a complete losing record for 2020. We can keep the Amarillo Matters losing streak going by coming out and making a statement this May.

Our government can improve, but only with your help. If you want to make positive changes in Amarillo, now is the time.

Let’s take our city back this May.
