By now, you have likely seen the news of Amarillo’s stay-at-home order, which is meant to cut down on the spread of COVID-19. I wanted to take a few minutes to let our readers know what this means for the Pioneer.
Here at the Amarillo Pioneer, we are lucky to have the opportunity to be your only locally owned daily newspaper. We have a responsibility to keep you informed about what is going on in your community and to cut through the noise and innuendo to give you an accurate snapshot of what is happening in the Texas Panhandle.
While this outbreak has certainly been a challenge, we remain committed to making sure you have good and accurate information to stay informed. We plan to continue reporting and publishing daily digital editions throughout the stay-at-home order’s duration. Under the order, the Pioneer qualifies as an “essential business” and will continue operating as such during this time. However, our writers have been encouraged to follow recommended guidelines for stopping the spread of the virus.
Please make sure you wash your hands and stay safe during this outbreak. We will get through this time together, Amarillo!
