Certain Dining Options Reopen at West Texas A&M

Aramark, the company that operates West Texas A&M University’s food services, announced July 8 that several on-campus food outlets have reopened.

The main dining hall is now open from 7 to 9 a.m. (breakfast), 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch) and 5 to 6:30 p.m. (dinner) Mondays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (brunch) and 5 to 6:30 p.m. (dinner) Saturdays and Sundays.

Which Wich Superior Sandwiches in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center Food Court is open for lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Starbucks and the P.O.D. Market, also in the JBK Food Court, are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

All locations will operate on a cashless basis, but will accept Visa, Mastercard, Dining Dollars and Buff Gold Cash.

The food outlets closed in March when the University moved to online classes after spring break as part of the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

“To ensure that we can provide the safest dining experience possible we have put in place a number of procedures, including limiting the seating in all of our dining areas and enhancing sanitation schedules,” said Michael Ives, Aramark food service director. “Before reporting to work daily, employees will confirm that they are not experiencing any COVID symptoms and have not been in contact with anyone who has. Temperature screenings will be done before each shift.”

Crews will be spread out wherever possible and split into different shifts, and all employees will be masked and gloved, Ives said.

Chick-Fil-A, 1910 Grill and Buff Stop, which all close for the summer sessions in normal years, will reopen Aug. 20, as expected.
