Gov. Greg Abbott has included Randall County in a new declaration of disaster due to drought conditions across Texas.
According to the Governor’s Office, Abbott has issued another declaration of disaster for the counties of Andrews, Brewster, Briscoe, Castro, Collingsworth, Crockett, Culberson, Dimmit, Deaf Smith, Floyd, Gaines, Gray, Hale, Hall, Jeff Davis, Kinney, Lamb, Loving, Maverick, Motley, Parmer, Presidio, Randall, Reeves, Roberts, Swisher, Terry, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wheeler, Yoakum, and Zavala, due to drought conditions. The new order from Abbott follows a July 21 order, which also included Randall County.
Due to the new order, Abbott has authorized the use of available resources from the state government and political subdivisions that are “reasonably necessary to cope with this disaster.” Abbott’s declaration also authorizes the suspension of any state statutes and rules that would “in any way prevent, hinder, or delay necessary action in coping with this disaster.”
