Online degrees from West Texas A&M University are among the most valuable in the country, according to new rankings from an independent analyst.
Value Colleges this week ranked WT in its Top 50 Best Value Online Degree Completion Programs for 2021. The rankings consider both undergraduate and graduate programs. WT is one of only three universities in Texas to make the list.
“We are committed to offering a high-quality education for all students, on- and off-campus alike, and we realize it’s especially important in this time to offer as much flexibility as possible for students,” said Dr. Neil Terry, executive vice president and provost. “Being recognized as a good-value proposition in higher education makes WT even more appealing to discerning students looking for a solid investment in their future.”
The rankings include only fully accredited institutions and are based on verified data from sources including Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and Niche. Programs are ranked according to factors including cost and student satisfaction.
“As it becomes more common for basic jobs to require a bachelor's degree, working adults who don't have their degree are turning online,” according to the editors at Value Colleges. “The freedom and flexibility that you get from taking your coursework online allow you to find a job that is in your chosen career field.
“By taking on an entry-level position in the field of your choice, you can gain much-needed experience that will go along with the lessons you are learning in school. The more experience you can gain while you are in school, the more complete your resume will be once you graduate,” the editors said.
Among the schools ranked alongside WT: University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Florida, University of Arkansas and others.
Recently, WT’s online bachelor’s programs were named the best in Texas by U.S. News & World Report, and the online MBA program is in the Top 25 in the prestigious Princeton Review.
The Value Colleges accolade reflects WT’s belief that quality is the cornerstone to higher education, an important part of the University’s long-term plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
