Arrest Made After Monday Shooting on Amarillo Boulevard

One person was arrested following a shooting on Amarillo Boulevard East this week.

According to Amarillo Police, on Monday, January 24, at 4:35 p.m., officers were called to a gaming establishment in the 2900 block of Amarillo Boulevard East on the report of a shooting. Officers located a 48-year-old male victim at that location with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the shooter as a black male who had been at the establishment before the victim arrived. The suspect was with a white female when the shooting occurred. After the suspect shot the victim, he pointed the gun at another female before leaving.

Officers were able to track the suspect to an apartment in the 2600 block of North Grand Street. John Ramzy, 38, was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

The suspect was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on his charges.
