The race for Oklahoma’s top elected office is tightening with just weeks to go before election day.
According to recent polls, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joy Hofmeister is quickly gaining ground in her once-long-shot bid to oust incumbent Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt. Stitt, who enjoyed a 16-point polling lead over the summer, according to 538, has seen his polling advantage shrink in recent days. The latest poll conducted in Oklahoma’s gubernatorial race showed Stitt leading Hofmeister by three points (via KOCO-TV).
While Hofmeister is gaining momentum, Stitt is still favored to win the race, according to 538. However, with polls tightening, this once safe Republican race is now trending toward being highly competitive in the final weeks of the campaign.
