According to a message posted on the City of Amarillo’s Facebook and water billing web page, the city is blaming software provided by Tyler Technologies (NYSE: TYL) for ongoing utility billing issues.

The message reads in part:

Due to unforeseen issues with Tyler Technologies Munis software, what this contractor presented as a simple, low-impact upgrade has continued to affect the Utility Billing department's ability to process payments online, by phone, or in person.

The city message further states that water bills will not be due until the issue is resolved and that no late fees will be applied. Further, no auto-draft payments will be drafted until the issue is resolved. As for water services, the city stressed there will not be service interruptions.

Regarding the message, Tyler Technologies provided The Amarillo Pioneer with the following statement:

Our team is partnering closely with the city of Amarillo to offer support and resolve the concerns with the water utility billing as quickly as possible.

The City of Amarillo began its relationship with Tyler Technologies for utility billing in 2016, having previously used Hansen v.7.
