Amarillo City Council met today to approve over $32 million in spending. The meeting, which was held today at Amarillo City Hall, included spending over $29 million on 15,000 acres of water rights. The final price tag, however, is likely to be higher, as the amount listed in the agenda does not include closing costs.
Aside from purchasing water rights, the next largest item on the agenda was for recoating three storage tanks located at the NE 24th Avenue Pump station. The contract, worth $2,621,445 was given to Dixie Painting and Sandblasting, Inc.
The city also approved purchase of office supplies from Officewise/Navajo Office Products in an amount “not to exceed $275,000,” online learning management system services from Cornerstone on Demand for $116,836, and tasers and taser accessories for the Amarillo Police Department from Axon Enterprise for $59,932.32.
Also on the agenda were modifications to two contracts. A decrease in a contract with L.A. Fuller & Sons, LTD for milling and overlay services netted the city $430,168.67 while increased costs on a contract with Brown Construction Services PLLC cost the city an extra $65,750 for 34th Avenue Pump Station switchgear replacement.
