Amarillo City Council spent nearly $30 million during today’s regular meeting. As we reported yesterday, the council’s agenda listed twenty different spending items on the consent agenda.

Each of the agenda items was passed during a single vote on the consent agenda package except for item Y.

Item Y was related to a contract with Dan Monk Construction for “directional drilling services utilized in the laying of fiber optic at various City location.” The contract is for up to $1,000,000.000 for one year “with the option to renew four additional one-year terms.”

The item was pulled from the consent agenda by Councilman Cole Stanley for some discussion, though the item was also quickly passed after a short discussion.

Both votes were 5-0.
