The bathrooms at local parks will be closed once again.

According to a press release from the City of Amarillo, restroom facilities at all city-owned parks will be closed, beginning on November 13. At this time, City staff will begin winterizing the bathroom areas. Officials say this move is being made to help save the infrastructure of the bathrooms, as well as to prevent damage from homeless individuals.

“The best way to ensure that our park restrooms are properly maintained is to close them during colder months,” Parks and Recreation Director Michael Kashuba said in a statement. “Park restrooms will reopen in the spring of next year.”

City officials say the bathrooms will reopen the week of spring break 2024.
