Attorney Samuel Brown Silverman has confirmed that he will soon be filing his application to join the race to replace Judge Doug Woodburn in the 108th District Court.

Silverman, a criminal law and intellectual property lawyer, announced his candidacy over the summer for Woodburn’s position, originally planning on challenging the judge in the Republican primary election. However, after the defeat of Proposition 13 — which ultimately barred Woodburn from seeking another term in office — Silverman confirmed that he planned to continue forward with his campaign.

According to Silverman, he will soon be filing his application for the ballot. The candidate is highlighting his pledge to support term limits and his decades of legal experience as two selling points for voters.

A graduate of West Texas A&M University, Columbia University, and the University of Houston Law Center, Silverman has practiced law in the Amarillo area for several years. According to the Texas Bar Association, Silverman has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 1990. Prior to running for judge, Silverman was a precinct chairman for the Potter County Republican Party.

Silverman joins Joe Marr Wilson in the Republican primary for the 108th District Court seat.

Ballot application filing will continue through Monday, December 11. The Republican primary is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
